Waterbug BioBlitz

Waterbug BioBlitz

Join our next Waterbug Bioblitz and help us gather valuable data on the health of our local waterways.

These one-day events brings together community groups, individuals, and aquatic ecologists to monitor macroinvertebrates (waterbugs) and water quality across different catchments. It’s a fun, hands-on way to contribute to conservation and learn about the environment.

Volunteers collect samples, assess water quality, and discover the creatures that live in our streams, rivers, and wetlands. No experience necessary, just a passion for nature. Come along, get your hands wet, and make a difference in monitoring our local ecosystems.

If you would like to be involved keep an eye on our events page or contact us at hf.landscapeboard@sa.gov.au

Waterwatch South Australia

The Waterwatch program has been engaging citizen scientists, schools, community groups, and landholders to monitor waterway health in the Murraylands and Riverland, and Hills and Fleurieu regions for over 20 years. By collecting data on water quality and quantity, participants help track long-term trends, assess land management projects, and support environmental policies.

You can easily upload your data to our online database, where it becomes part of a national water resource database. The results are also shared with the community through reports for each catchment.
